Most Perfect Gift You've Ever Received
What it was, and who nailed it.

(inspired by the inside flap of my copy of Steppenwolf, which bears my girlfriend's handwritten name & date)

1. getting to go to the inauguration
DH flubbed the handoff of my tickets to grant park on election night, and i was so mad i was spitting nails. he got on expedia the next day and got some very fast disappearing plane tickets and a hotel room. it was a nice room, too. he also did his best to annoy our congressperson, and anyone else that might have a ticket or a connection to a ticket in spite of my insistence that there were none to be had.
it was a very solid i love you.

2. Most memorable, a drafting table.
Bought by now deceased girlfriend for me while in architecture school with her first paycheck at her job in the big apple.

She was just a blonde from sunnyvale, pretty ballsy of her to move with me to the lower east side.

7. A violin bow.
I'm a fiddler.

Back in 1976 at Christmas. My boyfriend the viola player bought it for me. It cost $1,000.00.
Now the guy who made it charges $2,000, so it has not gone up that much.

I broke up with the guy, and didn't marry him, but that was the best present ever.

8. Christmas 1980
Membership to the Blondie Fan Club. I still have some of that stuff too. I had wanted it all year long. I still love Blondie and that morning was still one of the greatest I can remember.

13. Bestest gift ever.....
when my Pop (grandfather) passed away, I inherited his dog tags from WWII.

His brother was a paratrooper sent in for the Normandy Invasion. He was killed. I inherited his casket flag - with only 48 stars.

Quite an honor - and they are my two most precious possessions.

15. I know you guys are probably sick of this by now
But honestly, the best gift I ever receieved was here at DU. I met my soulmate here, the woman who makes my heart skip a beat everytime she giggles, the one I cant ever get off of my mind, (not that I ever want to) the one every song reminds me of.....the one who knows my heart and soul. The woman who knows my Hopes and Fears, dreams and aspirations, and my secrets..the woman whos touch makes me feel whole and in whose arms, I can drop my defenses and feel safe....The woman who makes me feel like a man and feel special...The love of my eternity...Thanks DU, for the greatest gift...The gift of love..

18. a 1952 Chicago Cubs yearbook and a 45 of Double Shot of my Baby's Love
Laura, 26 years later I still can't believe I blew it with you, because I loved cocaine even more than I loved you. Wherever you are, I'll never forget you and still treasure that yearbook and my little 45 of the Swingin Medallions. But the gift of love and caring from my friends and family is ongoing and unconditional ,and that's the greatest gift of all.

19. Yes, A toaster oven
I was dating this girl Tami and one night I was telling her about mini pizzas and how much I loved them and had not had any in years. A few night later, she came over to my place and brought me a toaster oven and everything I needed to make mini pizzas. We snacked on them all night, it was freakin awesome.

Mini Pizzas -
Toast english muffins till they are 90% done and remove from oven. Brush muffin with a light coat of olive oil. Put on favorite sauce (I like prego), a few slices of pepperoni, top with mozzarella and then just a bit of oregano. Put back in toaster oven and heat until cheese melts. mmmmm, heaven :D
