Poll question: How much sleep do you get in a 24 hour period? |

Nope, not looking for medical advice... just curious

call 24/7, so we wake up all the time.
I also didn't count napping time. I love napping.

Some nights I'm really lucky and make it to like, 9 hours. Most of the time, I'd say it's 6-7, often interrupted at least once by the kiddo and then again when Z gets up to go to work. But some of that is my own fault; I'm a night owl and regularly stay up waaaay later than I should!

5. I used to be a REALLY heavy sleeper |
|
Nothing would wake me up.* Then I had kids. Been a light/easily woken sleeper ever since.
*Once in college, a water line broke in the ceiling just outside my room. It caused a short, setting off the fire alarm, which was the old fashioned steel bell type, also right outside my room. Base firemen and plumbers wound up working most of the night - again, in the hall just outside of my room.
People looked at me like I was from another planet when came out of my room in the morning, stepped in a puddle of water, looked up at the missing and torn ceiling tiles, and said, "what happened here?"

I didn't average it as though I love to sleep, what I really need is a 28-hour day to be totally happy :D

10. I think I average 8, but it's hard to tell |
|
one night a week (and once a month on weekends) I get between 6 and 2 hours of sleep (due to my volunteer EMS work). So it's hard to really judge the rest, as I am often playing catch up.

11. At a minimum, 8 hours, sometimes more |

I make sure I get between 7-9 hrs a night.
I have bipolar disorder, and one of the most important aspects of managing it is to keep a regular, consistent sleep schedule every night. I'm usually asleep by 11, and try to be awake at 7 every day, weekend or not. That means I don't stay out late, and don't sleep in too late on weekends, if I can help it.
Because of the meds I take for bipolar disorder, I have become hypothyroid, and tend to have low energy because of it. That means I tend to sleep a lot longer than most people, too, so it's not unheard of for me to sleep 10-12 hours on some nights.
Most Americans don't get enough sleep, and it's killing us, IMHO. :(

I am a chronic insomniac and haven't slept through the night since I was in college. I can fall asleep but I can't stay asleep. It's very, very irritating.

internal alarms because they ALWAYS get me up by 4 a.m. just to be sure there is food in the dish and to let them out (unless it's bitterly cold they prefer the outdoor privy to the indoor litter box).
Then I go back to bed for an hour or so. Usually up somewhere between 5 and 6 a.m.

But I am exercising a lot. I seem to need it to build muscle.
I can be a light sleeper though and frequently wake up about 3-30 and stay awake. I hate those nights. :P

I'd say about 4 to 5 hrs most nights,as I have suffered from Insomnia since I was a child.
I would luv to be one of those ppl who can sleep all day and all night, because being awake for too long makes you think about your problems, and stresses you out even more.lol

I sleep normally now, since I got on CPAP - 7 to 8 hours almost every night - if at the lower end or some other problem happens I seem to need 30 minutes to an hour in the afternoon.
Before I was sleepy ALL the time - trying to nap or whatever 4, 5 times a day - "sleeping" late every morning. It was bad.
