My Border Collie pup was called "heavy" today |
|
I fear she may develop a complex. I took her in to get her stitches out (she got spayed last week), and the vet said she was on the heavy side, because she's 35lbs at 7 months. Personally, I think the man is on crack.
She's bigger-boned and taller than Mick, he's 39lbs without an ounce of fat on him. She has an itty-bitty little waist. It's like saying Jessica Alba is fat.

1. Be careful she doesn't develop an eating disorder |
|
I would shield her from that sort of remark and work on building up her self-esteem. That was very insensitive on the part of the vet. :grr:

2. I think she's safe for now |

She tried to eat the cat's food tonight, but she was unsuccessful.

Fortunately, my dogs are skinny.
LiV's cat is fat, though. My cat is skinny, however.

5. Heavy isn't necessarily a bad thing, if it isn't fat. Our FEMALE b.c. is 77 lbs |
|
She is just proportionally large for a border collie, german shepherd sized. Her parents both had papers and her dad was a good sized dog too. As long as her diet is appropriate, she keeps the appropriate shape, is active, and doesn't have heart or lung issues, screw what the vet said. Man is that a great breed!

6. hmmph, the vet is contributing to her possible mental anguish about body image |
|
Sue on grounds of mental anguish I say! Just kidding, spade dogs almost always gain weight. You can tell her that she is beautiful no matter what size she is, and if someone has problems with her weight, then they are the one with the problem.......
