I would like to STOP being so god-damn SELF-AWARE.
Do you know what I mean? Constantly watching myself, with a running inner commentary on what I see, feel, experience. And I can't stop THINKING.

Help!

You know that 25 Things FB thing? One of mine was wondering when I'll ever be able to stop self-analyzing and reflecting quite so much...

 Ah, to be young(er) and more sane...

Hang in there, dude!

Edited to add: have you ever done any reading on changing that inner monologue? If it's gotta run, you should train it to run positive stuff! :)

3. 25 Things FB - what's the FB?
About changing the inner monologue: a therapist once told me to "change the tape." Now it would be "d'load a new MP3" or some such.

 TY

4. Meditation would really help, IMO
And what's nice is that there are places that are non-denominational, so you are not getting a particular sect's philosophy, yet are able to get a general philosophy that really helps put things in perspective.

5. Self-aware, allows and smiles. Self-conscious, criticizes and struggles.

6. You're being self-conscious, not self-aware...
But don't kick yourself for being so critical either.

Find that place where you can observe the behavior without acting upon your self-judgement. Watch it, then let it go with a simple "Oh."
It may mean that you observe yourself binge-eating or chain smoking, or some other activity that spawns self-loathing. But awareness and observation are the first steps toward being a happier person. They can help you figure out what triggers self-destuctive behavior so you can begin to avoid it.

That's my two cents anyway. Take it or leave it.
