If I work in a gift shop is it okay for me to say to customers who want to use my phone "oh you can
use the phone at the customer service desk next door"? Cause I've refused one person the use of my phone and they looked at me shocked.

Granted I didn't do the blurb about the phone next door. I've had a really bad experience with people using my phone and I want to stay safe.

1. They want to use your personal phone?
I would NEVER let a customer use my personal/cell phone. No, I don't think you're out of line at all.

2. They want to use my store phone. At the hotel where I work I let one person use it. Felt like shit
all day.

5. Unless they need to call 911, there is no reason a customer should expect
to be allowed to use the phone at a business - that's just bizarre. Unless you work at some ultra-high-end gift shop that caters to the pampered and spoiled, I'd say that shocked customer needs to come back to reality...

6. Thank you. I think you are right. I'll not let anyone use my phone from here on in.
