9. Re:Hootie and the Blowfish
Personally,I was never a fan of Hootie and the Blowfish.

But considering they were more or less considered one hit
wonders, they had quite the following for some time.

20. A pretty good band that got overexposed
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 04:15 AM by last_texas_dem
Seriously, if only that debut hadn't got 15x platinum or whatever, there'd be a lot of folks looking back at Hootie and the Blowfish as this kinda quirky jangle-pop band that "should have been big." To me, they're like the nineties (in terms of the period in which they had the bulk of their success) equivalent of Peter Frampton, in that, in terms of critical treatment and the opinion of much of the music-listening population, they'd be remembered more fondly if they hadn't had substantial success.

A few years ago and they were awful. Big Head Todd and the Monsters opened and they really knew how to rock.

26. I'm not defending Hootie
But if it wasn't for their popularity, I doubt we would have been graced with the greatest Burger King commercial of all time:

28. Don't like 'em, but I have one other stupid and random comment.
In Portland the two mountains that are closest and most visible are Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens. So I dubbed them "Hoodie and the Blowtop."
