Is Aldi's grocery store worth driving out of your way for? |
|
Is the food a lot cheaper there?

They're cheaper than Save a Lot on a lot of things, and the quality is much better. I have to drive about 20 minutes to get there.:hi:

3. It's really cheap, but a lot of stuff is processed |
|
Not too much in the way of fresh produce. Depends on how you like to eat. We go there for some stuff, because it's right in town, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
We usually get cleaning products, OTC meds, snack foods, etc there, and do our main grocery shopping at Trader Joe's (which is actually owned by Aldi).
Both places can be good if you're not tied into having to buy name brand stuff.

7. Staples are cheaper, milk, bread, flour, eggs, etc. |
|
The quality of their canned goods is on par with a name-store in-house brand, and usually are cheaper. The variety and quality of frozen items has been expanded, but the price differential on these items isn't as great, or is even on par with full-line grocery stores. Fresh fruit and vegetables can be hit-or-miss, for a good selection shop mid-week in the morning. Fresh meats items are limited, there is a large selection of smoked and lunch meat.
If you do the bulk of your shopping in one go, it may be to your advantage to make a special trip.
