When Do You Replace Car Belts & Hoses? |
|
How long would you expect car belts & hoses to last? My car is a 1995 model with all the original belts & hoses. A mechanic put a note into a bill receipt for another service stating that these should be replaced. The belts & hoses don't appear to have a thing wrong with them visually. Do you think this is a legitimate concern, or are they just trying to make a buck?
Thanks

2. If you trust your mechanic, compare the cost to that of being stuck on the side of the road. |

Been there, done that. It isn't fun.

I think I would trust mine on this, not an expensive fix.

5. It's past time for your car. |

It's almost 15 years old, and still has the original hoses and belts? Uff da!
You can do it yourself, if you're a handy sort. Serpentine belts are tougher, but I do those too.
Or, you can have them done. But, you don't want to be beside the road in the winter, and a blown hose can ruin your engine pretty quickly if you don't notice it overheating.
