1. I was thinking about moving to Montana when I first started trucking |
|
It seemed like a good place to get away from it all. I soon learned that it was a surprisingly expensive place to live for the level of nothingness that it provided. And a 4 wheel drive vehicle would make things much easier and safer in the winter. I still like Montana, though, and when I get some vacation time built up I might go out and visit again.

2. I've been there a few times |

I like Montanna, although I've never been there in the winter.
If you go up north near the Canadian border, things get REALLY remote. Many areas have no commercial power sources and run their own generators.

1969 M model. IFR GPS, with a GPSS coupled STEC-20 autopilot. It's not fast, but it gets you there and it's a nice X-country plane.

C182 is a Cessna, right? We usually flew in a 150 or a Piper Cherokee 6. If we'd stayed in Dallas, I'm sure I'd be flying too, but we moved away and flight school was out of the question.

15. The C182 is a wonderful airplane. |

I have a whole lot of time in the 182 (as a CFI, not my own plane). Wish I could afford one of my own.

Which part is mine I'm not sure.
I also fly a newish 182T with a glass cockpit. It's definitely the cat's meow.

was born not too far away in St. Ignatius, and the library at Salish Kootenai College in nearby Pablo is named after him. He was a writer and activist, and his novel The Surrounded (written in the mid-30s) is a foundational text in the tradition of (written) Native American literature.
