They're from Chicago, but settled in Eagle River. I've visited them there, and it's beautiful! It was in January, but it was still beautiful.

On edit, it's North Woods, not country.

16. You did?
Wow...my dad was teaching there in 1943 when I was born...

He got drafted into the War, and my mom and I went home to her parents in Illinois...

I was only a few months old at the time. I did return to visit the town much later, and the people who own the house where my parents and I lived allowed me to come in and see the place!

I also toured the hospital...

My mini-Roots Odyssey!

It is a beautiful little town...

21. OK, again, weird...
when I was younger, my dad was the Dean of Career Planning at Ripon (in fact if you look in the Friday nite picture thread, the first one was taken in Metomen house which was a TB hospital in the early years and then converted into faculty housing). What a small, small world. I would actually love living in Ripon again, it is such a great little town, even if it was the birthplace of the Republican party :P

And the highways in Wisconsin are some of the best kept, smoothest, and nicest roads to drive on in the country.

begin walleye fishing a couple of weeks early on the St. Croix River. That's got to be a good thing. Further, I could not fish for sturgeon at all except with the border waters agreement.

Note for PETA members: All fish I catch are released, unharmed, so I can catch them again. Fishies love to play with me.
