I was born in Wilmington. Whoa, we're neighbors.

My stepmother was living in Xenia when she met my dad back in 1954, and her parents lived there for many years. Their house blew away in that big tornado back in the '70s. (They lived in Florida by then.)

Wow.

20. We lived in Yellow Springs by that time
We were out of town when they hit

we went back and the first house I lived in (no memory of it) was gone except for the basement
pristine green grass-no suggestion of a house of any on the lot-looked like an empty swimming pool
BUT the hot water heater was still in place and whole

I am told that Nixon visited.

35. No
as I posted above we were in Yellow Springs at the time actually in Indianopolis THAT day (mom interviewing for a job) the cars jumped up and down in the parking lot (nasty weather front)

Our old house was gone..except the water heater in the basement. Gone. Completely, like someone swept the basement of debris and the yard of every fragment of 2X4's. I have a book with a famous picture of a telephone book embedded in a telephone pole.

I like Ohio, and I like all those Ohio people, too! Plus being a hotbed of alt/punk creativity didn't hurt either.

Also all those ceramics factories and museums.

16. I spent the early years of my life there.
Some of my best memories are from my grandma's place on Lake Erie -- finding "sea" (okay, lake) glass on her beach, playing in her woods, running through cornfields, feeding horses.

Love the Ohio farmland. Love the Amish country.

I spent the summers with my dad growing up and he lives about 2 miles from Kings Island. I had season passes. Can't tell you how many times I rode that coaster.
BTW, the new coaster Son of Beast is pretty good too....
