Hamburger and chicken prices? |
|
Anyone noticed the prices of hamburger, and chicken lately?
Hamburger looks like it's gone down some, while chicken has gone through the roof. Especially the boneless "tenders."

More people on diets mean more chicken than beef sold, demand sets the price.

Lot of heart patients, (including myself,) are buying it more since the skin and fat is just about all cut off.
But a pound of hamburger is $1.77.
A pound of skinless, boneless chicken tenders is $6.90.

but chicken has gone up...
The usually rate for a lb of hamburger is 2 bucks per lb...
I use to get leg/thigh chicken quarters(10lb bags) for 3.99, now they are 5.99, gone up two bucks...
Egg prices are still over 2 bucks per dozen, although milk has fallen to about 2.50, after a high of 4plus this past year....
Soda has gone up as well, use to be you can get generic soda for 50 cents, now most generics are 88/99 cents per two liter, while name brand is around 1.50.....
What I noticed recently was sugar...I use to get sugar for 2.12 for five lbs....I got 5lbs this past Thursday, it was 3.49.
I've notice rice/flour go up as well, but not by much....like 50 cents or so.

10. Here in central Pa boneless skinless breasts have gone as high |
|
as 3.99 a lb. But I don't pay that. They regularly go on sale for 1.99 a pound, and then I buy enough for a few months and put them in the freezer.

|
in SW MO its 8 bucks for 3lbs...I wonder why its so spendy, the county I'm in is loaded with Chicken house, and we got two chicken plants, Simmons, and Tyson...
Tyson chicken is the most spendy though....

14. Is it too difficult to remove the skin yourself? |
|
Not to be rude but you are paying someone at the processing facility to do it for you. I am putting up a coop this spring & have bought a few (live) chickens down at the farmers market to see if I would have any problems processing them myself. The only issues I have is with the feathers, it is time consuming to remove them. (yes, I do dip them in boiling water first)
