Combo thread: Laws of Nature (suspended). Plus, 'puter went BOOM, lent one has Vista
Got going this morn with a concept, "Do you ever wish for a LITTLE bit of respite from the relentless laws of nature?"

This was because, while coming and going, cooking eggs, there's this rack/shelf-thing near the path that has a post/corner JUST THE RIGHT HEIGHT that sometimes (not often or frequently) SNAGS the shirt sleeve that is JUST THE RIGHT LENGTH, and gives me a mild clotheslining. Like, JUST THIS ONCE can the laws of nature be suspended?!

Plus, there was this housefly in the house. Tried to get it out the door but it disappeared. So got to the eggs and doing the DU and forgot about it, then, SURE ENOUGH, there it was on the toast. Like, JUST THIS ONCE can the predictable thing NOT happen?! (You know, a fly, the ones that can be seen perching on dog crap.)

But am on a borrowed computer that uses Vista and it is a PAIN!1 Can't find a "Favorites" place to save DU and other things, so I'm having to Log In every time. Plus, just figured out that the Cut/Paste things are under "Page" but not yet got the trick on WHEN it lets me Copy/Paste and when it doesn't.

My machine died 3 days ago. The tech back then said it might be just a power supply, but now says, predictably, that, no, it really IS dead. So over there in the DEAD hard drive are saved docs, a couple of e-addys not duplicated in saved places, all my Favorites, some documents. And, NO, predictably, I didn't back them up.

Can the dead hard drive be transferred into a jump drive to SELECT things to put into another machine? There had been a possible Trojan hijacking a couple of weeks ago, so I'm wary of just letting the tech transfer all of the hard drive into another machine.
