But these threads are asking for positive things about the state itself. I think your posts violate the spirit of the threads, but I'm not the post police. Do what you want.

30. The threads weren't asking about positive things
They were asking about something you like about a state. I like the fact that I don't live in those states. I do wish I lived in Massachusetts, Delaware, or Hawaii. I like those states quite a bit.

And I love your big skies.

31. I lived in Flagstaff for two years
I enjoyed my time there. I liked my nice little apartment on the edge of town, I had a good job, and my front door was only 89 miles by car to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. I got used to living at 7,000 feet, loved the slower pace of life, and the rich Navajo and Hopi cultures. Living there brought back direction and purpose to my life after a rough patch following September 11 and being laid off. I also enjoyed starring in several plays at the local playhouse - making TV appearances, being called out in the streets. It was all good fun. Route 66 ran right through town, and the university gave the place some vitality and progressivism to balance the normal conservative bent of the state. The San Francisco Peaks added a bit of snow-capped natural beauty to the landscape. I shall always hold a special place for northern Arizona in my heart,

And damn if their flag isn't one of the prettiest of the 50 states:

35. It is my home.
I was born in Flagstaff, raised mostly in Tempe and now live where the really deep roots are in the Southeastern part. I am a fifth generation Arizonan and my kids are 6th. Not many Anglos can make that claim. I love the cultural, ecological, and geographical diversity (contrasts!) of the whole region. I love the proximity to my next favorite place, Northern Mexico.

I love the smell of creosote bushes and ozone after a summer storm. The sunsets, the clear sky at night. I love the distances and space (although that can be a pain sometimes too, also it feels like it is getting filled in too fast).

My friend was lucky enough to score himself a job there, and I decided to visit. Pictures don't do it justice, especially the first time you see it. Very cool experience.

Flagstaff was a cool, funky little town as well.

Oh, and Najavo Tacos! Went to this place in Cameron that sold these great Najavo Tacos!

Beat the Yankees in a wild finish.

And remember, the Yankee asskissers at ESPN and Fox were trying to convince us that we had to root for the Yankees because of 9/11. Like Derek Jeter had pulled bodies out of the rubble or something.

and until it got too suburban, it seemed like a nice place to live. He lives in the "old town", a few blocks north of Tempe, and was pretty close to the edge of town by the reservation.

56. I've been waiting for the right forum for
my 1000th post - this is it.

What I like about AZ (I live in Tempe):

Phoenix's brand new light rail
The Grand Canyon
Taliesin West
Being able to see the sky and the horizons
Monsoon storms and amazing sunsets
Saguaros, Palo Verdes, Baja Fairy Dusters
More species of hummingbirds than any other state
Harry Mitchell
Janet Napolitano (even though she abandoned us)
The Desert Botanical Gardens
The Center for Biological Diversity http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/index.html
Solar panels
Weather and landscape diversity (from sun to snow and flat desert to forest covered mountains)
Areas where there is very little light pollution (those areas are getting smaller but there still is a lot of open land here and with the housing market tanking, maybe it will stay that way for a little longer now)
