Someone who didn't know her was calling 911. I felt for a pulse, found it, found out from her friend that she had been drinking all day, saw her moving and breathing deeply, tried to rouse her. Then I decided I had done all I could do (I took her pulse cause I know CPR and she didn't need it). So I left. Should I have stayed?

1. You're fine....
A stranger called 911 and her friend was there. You found that she did not need CPR, and all was being taken care of. Yes! You did the right thing....there was no more you could do.
Not only did you do the right thing...you did what many people would have not done. You cared enough to stop and help.....There are too many horrible stories about those in need of help, and people keep on walking...

You're golden.
:loveya:

peace~

You did more than a lot of people would do. You made sure the situation was stable and that she was in good hands before leaving

7. I was riding down a neighborhood road once
and a woman was laying 1/2 in the road 1/2 in the ditch.

I got the driver to pull over so I could push her out of the road if she was just sleeping off a drunk. Well, she was scantilly dressed and vulnerable so I poked her a few times to roust her.

She hopped up like she just got shocked and cried, and mumbled. She had been beaten. I got the driver to take us to the hospital. When we got there the woman flipped the fuck out. She said take me to this address. We went...

It was a freaking Hooters!!!

I sat in the car drinking my beer and said something like, "if she doesn't come back out by the time I finish, we'll leave..."

I was ALMOST done and she came running to the car from Hooters like she was being chased.

I let her in the car.. drove to a quiet spot and handed her a beer out of the cooler. The person driving fired up a doob and they indulged. The woman relaxed.

I had just got out of a rehab like a month prior and mentioned the place to the lady. She verbalized that she was needing a rehab. We drank a few beers and drove to the rehab. In the parking lot we drank a few more beers then she went in. I told her we'd wait for 30min or so and to let us know what was goin on.

20 minutes later a nurse came out and said she agreed to be admitted.

I always wonder what became of her. She had to have been well off to be admitted on the spot. I think I slept on the trampoline in the back yard that night...

11. That sucks
If 911 was called, there is probably nothing more you could do.

You are a humanitarian.

12. You did just right.
Must say I'm ambivalent (on the negative side) about drunks; given that, you did fine.
