2. It feels this way every year this time.
For me basketball is in March with the conference and NCAA tourneys. But it still ain't pro football. And figure skating just don't cut it.

4. I used to love pro football
The family would all get together on Sundays during football season. The women would be either in the kitchen cooking up snacks and dinner for everybody, or hanging around talking and drinking tea when all the food was made. The men would be lounging in front of the TV for nearly 8 hours watching the games and talking about them.

Now days I'd rather hang out with the women and drink tea. I no longer feel a sense of loss this time of year.

5. A world without sports would be a MUCH
better world...

There is NOTHING LESS IMPORTANT than sports.

How I wish I would never have to hear about them again, but you can't escape it, it's EVERYWHERE...

Every year, I root for the team near where I live to lose as quickly as possible so I can stop hearing about that...

:hi:

Could not care less. Just bores the hell out of me.

Except for (showing my age and atheism) decades ago when the old Oakland Raiders stomped the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. George Allen had the Eagles PRAYING on the 50-yard line before the game. The Raiders, a bunch of godless reprobates, drug abusers and old warhorses one step from the glue factory, made it clear they were not there to pray. They were there to rip off heads, which is just what they did.

As I collected my bets after that game, one of my buddies said: "Damn! You were right! Jesus is a jinx!"

I developed a hatred of Pro Sports at a young age. One day all of us actually went out and PLAYED sports. Then, all of a sudden, everybody wanted to huddle in front of the TV and WATCH sports.

FTS.

I'm in Egypt but may be returning to the US soon. If I can arrange it, I want the cable company to give me all the movie channels and none of the fucking sports channels.

equal, but sports are WORSE. At least I don't have to listen to country music anymore; there are jocks everywhere at work and on the radio I listen to who WON'T SHUT UP. x(

13. My dark period only lasts a couple of weeks.
From the Super Bowl until MLB Opening Day. Really less if you count spring training.

Unfortunately, I don't follow either hockey or basketball (pro or college--unless the Terps are good that year), so really there's not a whole lot of reason to watch ESPN during that time period.

That there is what I call entertainment.

Narrator: "Well, Van Dam's throwing a spinnerbait into those weeds. I believe it's a Booyah! model with watermelon skirts. If that strategy doesn't work, he'll probably switch to a football jig in the same color, with a creature chunk. He's gonna be hard to beat...that's for sure."

Man, it don't get no better than that there. Talk about your excitement!

maybe a good TO rumor, or another arrested Bengal. Bill Parcells resigning. Something.

But they are only talking about the artist formerly known as Major League Baseball.

But it will be better soon. Baseball spring training starts soon, and football won't be far behind.
Even the draft will look good this year - it was a hell of a season in 08.
