Poll question: Best way to serve fresh strawberries... |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 02:57 PM by HopeHoops
I know it is still a few months away, but we have to look ahead. How do you like fresh strawberries the best?
On edit: the post failed - had to re-enter everything. On second edit: the post failed again - GRRR! On THIRD edit: I can't figure out why it is taking a dive - it doesn't report any error but there isn't a poll. Just post your thoughts. Grrr!

3. Strawberries Romanoff..... |
|
De-stem, wash, and dry a pint of berries and put them in a tupperware-type bowl with a lid. Add about 1/3 cup of sugar, approximately 1 tbsp of orange zest, and enough Grand Marnier/Cointreau (or triple-sec in a pinch) to soak the berries. Cover and marinate them, stirring occaisionally, for several hours. Serve with fresh whipped cream.

At most, a teaspoon of sugar to help the juices flow, but they don't need anything.
And it's serious strawberry season right now in FL so I get to buy them in bulk and go apeshit. My only caveat is that someone else does the picking. A big light bulb went on as to why so many people are allergic to strawberries the last time I hit a U-pick place and spent an hour up to my elbows in them: Strawberries are related to poison ivy (just look at the three leaves, man)! Most miserable night of my life with my arms on fire. Thank goddess I can still eat them. :9

you hollowed them out and then filled them with chocolate moose. Too much work for me. But they looked good.
