I'm not into the mushy, sappy cards, but apparently the rest of the world is. The selection was like 90 percent nauseating bullshit pseudo-romantic barf cards, and 10 percent utterly unfunny "humorous" cards.

I think I am going to make my own.

1. I avoid it like the plague.

I get the same gut reaction. :puke:

If they wanted to make Valentine's Day like real love, all the pictures of the hearts would have barbed wire around them and blood dripping everywhere.

3. The whole holiday makes me cringe, really.
But the card section is just beyond tolerable.
And the cards are freaking EXPENSIVE, besides!

4. Wouldn't it be more fun to vomit on the doorstep of Hallmark's HQ?
And if the store in question is Wal-mart, just puke anywhere. They won't notice. It smells like their aromatherapy department so, rest assured, ain't nobody going to notice! :D

6. Hallmark just blows, in general.
The last time I wanted to buy a sympathy card, I couldn't find one that didn't invoke some religious reference.
Apparently, you can't be sympathetic if you're an atheist..

8. What drives me crazy are the constant commercials running at my store
I'm stuck there for 8 hours at a stretch and the Hallmark commercials are the worst -

"Diane! Look at this adorable little doggie!" (It goes downhill from there) :puke:

A close second is the pear commercial -

"In my family, my husband likes crisp fruit while the kids and I like sweet fruit..."

And I care what kind of fucking fruit your family likes why?

9. Reminds me - back when i was a kid
in the early '60s. All song were'love and june and spoon and marry me'. It was totally sickening. Then when I was about 15 the Beatles came out with "Rubber Soul." On Rubber Soul was a song with the lyrics:
I was alone, I took a ride
I didn't know what I would find there
Another road where maybe I could see another kind of mind there."

Finally someone got it right. Love is a mental thing. My girlfriend and I loved that song.
Years later the Loving Spoonful came out with 'Darling be home Soon" which included the line:
"It's not just these few minutes but I've been waiting for a lifetime
For the great relief of having you to talk to."
I sent the lyrics and a link to this song to my daughter for her 5th anniversary, told her to share with her hubby. Love is a mind thing.

12. Send electronic ones from Care2
They have some clever, non-kitschy ones, and you get to save a piece of rainforest.

15. As far as sentimental gobbledigook goes
I'd much rather kick the crap out of anyone and everyone involved with any gag-inducing Kay commercial.
