Ok, Ladies of the Lounge, we all know what you don't want for Valentine's Day... |
|
So what would you like? What makes a good Valentine's day for you?)
(In the interests of full disclosure, Mrs. Carton is getting a nice pair of earrings to replace a pair she really liked, but lost one some years ago. Dinner, unfortunately will be some nice Chinese Take-Out as I'm a starving student, we have a toddler, and Feb. 14 is not the easiest night to get a babysitter.) How am I doing?

but remember your time and attention are worth every bit as much (more even) than presents.
(but presents aren't bad either lol)

4. Time and attention? d'oh! |
|
Yeah, you're right, such a simple thing, and yet often so difficult to actually give.

Hey,that sounds like the perfect Valentines Day to me!
As for myself,I am single,so I won't be up to much.
I invited a crush over for dinner, and to have some beer.
I really don't expect much out of him,but it would be nice if I got some kisses.:)
Anyways,if I actually had a boyfriend,I think I would just be satisfied enough with a card, and anything else would be an added bonus.
After all, when you love someone,it is the thought that counts.

7. Aaah, single on Valentine's day... I remember it well. :( |
|
My typical Valentine's Day activity as a single was to listen to the blues and drink Ginger Ale (I'm a Mormon) I actually had a pretty strong loathing of the holiday... Then I got married, such comments and ranting does not please nor impress the wife, so I have had to rethink my position... it's not so bad.
Hope your night goes well :)

Anything that says "I thought about you more than 12 hours in advance of today" usually goes over well.

10. This gift was relatively easy... |
|
She likes to be surprised, so I often have to guess what she wants... we didn't do things like that in my family (mom knew the jewelry she wanted, and if we could afford it, she got it herself) so I've had some worrisome moments in the last few years.

12. Well, we do have something bottled and bubbly to drink... |
|
As to the candles, I'll have to see how much time I have to prep the apartment, Baby Carton goes to bed a little late, and she goes through the Living Room a bit like an F3 tornado.

19. I don't want anything |
|
I have a wonderful husband, and that's enough for me. Flowers die, I don't like candy or jewelry, I prefer our own cooking to a restaurant.
So...I'm buying us a Wii. I'm such a romantic.

That's all I ever want. My husband and I work crazy hours and we're raising a daughter so, as you know from experience, life gets hectic. I don't want to bother going to a restaurant, I don't wear jewelry, the teddy bear thing is ridiculous, and I prefer to buy my own flowers.
I love it when he cooks (he's a fantastic cook) so my ideal Vday is to drink a glass of wine while keeping him company in the kitchen, then sit and eat in a quiet living room, talk, laugh, and just be together. No tv, no phone calls, no email, just us. He has a certain look in his eyes when I have his full attention. It's sweeter than chocolate.
FWIW, I think you're doing great! I hope you and Ms Carton have a wonderful time. :)
