if you follow the links, they're not marzipan. They're sculptures that an artist has for sale for several hundred dollars apiece. Many are one of a kind and sold to collections. Some are sets that are sold out. Only a few are still available.

Those are amazing, but slightly creepy art.

It seems like she used to put more detail into the older ones that are sold out, and the newer ones that are still available are a bit more bland. Maybe she's making them more quickly, or making them easier to produce is numbers. But whatever the reason, the older ones definitely seem more detailed and lifelike.

When the accident happened a couple of years ago the picture floated around the pilot message boards. Someone said the pilot walked away and was back in the air a few days later. The NTSB report was posted some time later.

I have my own 182M which I put a lot of hours on. I also volunteer for CAP and I fly everything from P model 172s to brand new glass cockpit 182s and a Gippsland GA-8 Airvan.

It's really awesome for anything IFR or x-country flights. All the ones CAP has also have either the KAP 140 or the integrated Garmin autopilot, and both of which can fly full approaches including the full missed and holding patters + entry. You can really get non-proficient flying IFR with this thing if you're not careful.

We no longer have the ability to fly true "raw data" IFR. You can technically do it, but even in the most "dumbed down" modes, there is a lot more information available than just raw data. I at least try to fly no a/p no flight director approaches.
