"To the Poet"

Sleeping with
your poems
next to my skin
I arise
tattooed.

Holding your poems
high above my head
in the deluge
images take root
in my brain
signaling stigmata
to blossom small
hungry mouths
in upturned palms.

Having braved
a thicket of images
I wait for you
to lick me clean
with black, forked
tongues of ink.
