LOST- I am tired of watching people die
I am tired of growing attached to characters, only to watch them die. I am tired of watching romance start to blossom, only to see death cut it off before it has a chance to bloom.

Especially after that game against the Eaglets.

7. Sounds like life
I'm along for the ride, but I'm really hoping there is an unhappy ending to the story they're telling. Better not be everyone reunited and dancing around a campfire on the island.

8. You're right, it does sound like life
I like my entertainment to be better than that, not more of the same.

9. Well, isn't that JJ Abrams' modis operandi?
Killing people off in imaginatively gruesome ways?

(No, I don't watch any of his stuff for that very reason.)

He's a cynical little shit, and I think he's the one who is driving things at the moment.

11. BSG doesn't kill people off that much
and hardly ever in the most gruesome way imaginable. The last episode was brutal that way, but only because of what was going on. It really isn't so bloody most of the time :)

20. It's trite. PT Barnum shock jock antics.
I miss situation-based drama; action and adventure where it's not people dying with loud abrasive music in the background that compels us to cry. Everything being so much soap opera these days, though I'm not taking into consideration LOST is just doing the same thing to get and maintain ratings than daring to experiment with the format... never mind I've never seen LOST before...

?

21. Define situation-based drama.
I don't necessarily disagree with you as I suspect you mean drama based around a premise with a clear story-arc beginning, middle and end to each episode, the modus operandi of the drama genre as recently as 10 years ago. It wasn't necessary to see every episode as the characters and premise remained the same week-to-week and every week there was a new "case" that was settled within 60 minutes. I call it "set-piece" drama.

The term "situation-based drama" kind of tweaks me, it sounds like situational-comedy (sitcom) and the infusion of drama makes me think of "dramedy" (dramatic comedy) which is both the second worst thing to happen to television (after reality-based TV) and what started this trudge towards the need to "retool" drama and ultimately soap-operatization of dramatic programming. If I wanted long histrionic overwrought story arcs I'd read Frank Miller comics and watch Guiding Light and WWE Raw.

Broken campaign promise, I'm so disappointed.

Wait, no, he didn't make that promise. My mistake.

Sorry, those people are just so screwn!
