I did so once or twice and was really sick after a few hours. But I've drunk 1/2 that amount of many occasions (too many probably).

31. It's not about how much you weigh. It's about attitude. And the whole, "No, I like living" thing..
well, it's just the wrong mentality to take toward drinking. It's all about the "Fuck it, I'm going to drink like a maniac and if I die, then God better watch his ass because I'm going to be fucking hammered and ready to kick his ass" mentality. That you haven't killed a 5th is fine, it's just the explanation of why that gets you called a wuss. :toast:

Just kidding.

No, not that much that soon, but I've met people who did, it's astonishing.

Alcohol is a solvent, not that far from say, kerosene.

It's a miracle that so much can be consumed without death.

6. Never, but I witnessed a giant down an Imperial quart in an hour...
one shot at a time. He used to be a business partner with the owner of the bar and was determined to drown his sorrows. Owner cracked the seal on the bottle and proceeded to sell it to him one drink at a time.

I learned from him that pickup trucks and woman are nothing but a mind fuck. He ended up totally smashed, but never passed out. Four five hours later he left when the cab arrived. I don't know if the driver was going to get a tip.

36. Something like that, it was more than an American quart
It was a Canadian whiskey, 1.13652297 liters. I guess the Imperial quart thing is my hangup from back when they were 40 ounces or 5/4 a US quart.

A pints a pound the world around unless you're in Great Briton then it's 20 ounces.

I did enjoy drinking my barley sandwiches when I was working in England. ;)

7. Yes, many years ago--
I don't recommend it. I wanted to die, even though it did take my mind off the minor drama that I was experiencing in my life at the time.

I had an incredible tolerance when I was young; now I can barely drink a small beer without feeling it the next day. That's a good thing, I think.

I'm not sure why. I passed out and was sick all over someone's car.

I was such a dumb shit at the time that I'm not even sure I realized I could have died from alcohol poisoning. It's not as though it was the first time I was ever drunk, either. I think I was lucky to have survived the incident, and a few other incredibly stupid things I did when I was younger.

There are cities and towns at that height. I believe that at high altitudes alcohol would be absorbed by your body more quickly than at lower altitudes so he'd have gotten a double punch.

College, in the early 90's. In one night of partying.

Jack Daniel's. A complete 750.

I made it to the precipice, but did not get sick. I managed to survive with great thirst the next day, which isn't bad as far as hangovers go. JD had never made me sick, and I wasn't going to start then.

My friend saved the bottle as a souvenir. Despite getting through it with little difficulty, it's not something I had done before or have since.

59. As I once told a friend who asked, in that devasted hang-over
known as "drinking out of practice", "How do you do that?" (We split a bottle of sake, and then killed the good part of a bottle of Jim Beam.):

"That's just *Saturday night*."

My capacity is ridiculous. I recall one rather fuzzy occasion at the bar at TGI Friday's, that I put down four vodka martinis, two tequila shots, a Rob Roy, something with a name like "brown heroin" but that wasn't it, which contained Rumpleminze and Godschlager and some brown stuff, and was actually bought for me by an amused fellow patron who did not believe I could throw it down on top of the uneasy things I already had in my guts. Did it. Then I had an "Long Island Iced Tea." And then...something else. I think it was....blue.(They should not serve "visibly intoxicated persons"--I wasn't. I was probably damn intoxicated. It just wasn't "visible.")It was the first time I blew $100 at a bar (there was some appetizers involved, but really--$100 at a TGIFridays'--insanity. Also some beers for my companion--but whev.)

I've had stands where I drank tequila shots so long as other people were buying; usually I need a few beers to get that cocky. I've killed a liter+ of sake at a go. A Growler of mead over an evening (which had me up playing music and having a "sing-along" until the wee hours.) Two bottles of wine a night was my habit for a couple weeks when I was recovering from a back injury. (But, like, we're talking two bottle of Amber Mist.)

I think going drink for drink with a 250-lb former baseball player/punk guitarist where he puked first (a pubcrawl so varied, I can no longer recall the courses, except to note I leaned towards the simple--g&t--rum & coke, maybe three drinks each at about four clubs, or so), and my beer stand at the Great American Brew festival at Baltimore about a decade ago, where, in a five-six hour period I literally went from Anheuser-Busch to Yards and sucked down two-three oz at every stall (literally so drunk when I got back to the hotel that I had to grip the couch I lay on to keep the room from spinning--paradoxically, it gave me miserable insomnia!) go down as personal records of drunken excess.

I've certainly scraped by the equivalent of a fifth of hard liquor on occasion, but because I vary my drinks, it's hard to say how often I've done it. More than once, certainly. The most sick I've ever been was a White Russian binge followed by Vampires (cranberry, vodka, and Chambourd). That combo really looks like a bleeding ulcer coming back up. I've definitely been sick enough to genuinely think I should not ever, ever do it again.

But I still drink. Just not....er....competitively, anymore.

The brown stuff wouldn't have been Jagermeister, would it? Because I believe that's known as a Screaming Nazi.

And on another note, my hat is off to you, whoever you are. Screw the Puritans - an amazing drinking capacity is something to be proud of, goddamnit!

61. Jagermeister--that sounds vaguely familiar.
I'm afraid a corporate bar is a bit PC a place for a beverage called screaming Nazi. Why a heroin reference is better, I'm unsure. I'm fairly sure it was shot of each in the glass, and I was burping "minty" regardless of the other things I had.

It's my plan in life to stay in "hard drinking training" so that, at a moment's notice, I could do a hard stand again. I've seen people my age and a bit older who left of staying in their drunken prime, and they fare miserably, at, say, open bar weddings, long weekends in Las Vegas, and dinners with unreformed boozer like myself. Weekend warriors, with martini migraines and fuzzy tongues their equivalent of "runners' toe" or splints.

Sad.
