Well, I got the catalog to pick out my gift for being at my job 10 years |
|
Besides the depressing reality of being there that long, I am struck by the number of timepieces offered. My choices are a couple of ugly pieces of jewelry, a Swiss Army knife, a pair of cheap binoculars, a pin with the corporate logo :eyes: or a selection of ten different clocks or watches.
So I can see time crawl by as I waste away in that place. Or maybe they just want to make sure I'm on time.
I got the Swiss Army knife. I'll probably use it to slit my wrists. Ten years. Jesus.

3. I remember doing that... |
|
They gave me a framed service award and a silver cup with some engraving on it.
Twenty months later they laid me off...

4. You get a gift just working at the same place for ten years? |
|
Consider yourself lucky.
At my place of employment, we can't even take any gifts over $5 from outside vendors or clients. If we do, we end up on an I-Team special on government corruption and waste.
Always remember, as bad as your job (or your employer) seems, somebody else's is much worse. :)

I can lose my job if I do.
I do consider myself lucky to even have a job. But just because I know other people have it worse than I do doesn't make my gripes about my job any less valid.
