When you hear "Oh Snap!", what do you think?
The most useful tool in AutoCad, this side of Ortho and Fillet. It snaps to predefined points along lines, polylines or shapes.

It saves your ass from having to zoom all the way in to get lines to look like they join. Just hover nearby til the yellow box pops up, click, and you're golden.

Osnap= F3
Ortho= F8
however, be advised that F3+F8 does not equal F11

Also, don't forget to PEdit those newly Osnapped lines into badass polylines!

Osnap! I forgot to use Ortho now my shit's all crooked and not joined.

When you use Osnap in conjunction with Ortho, you'll be virtually unstoppable.

:woohoo:

1. I think it's one of those things that will look very silly to us
a few years from now. Kind of like 80s fashion.

5. I think, "Oy, when will that go away?"
Same as with "epic" or "my bad" or a dozen other 'cool' sayings.

22. "Oy" and "Oi" aren't cool slang... they're just words.
This internet fad shit is something entirely different.

It'll go away just like all the other fads. Thankfully.

24. Thou thinkest language doth not change? Thou thinkest all new words are fads?
Most of the words we use were slang at one time. Look how long "cool" and "man" have hung around.

6. In Living Color. But I can see that for AutoCrash
:P

And snapping to 3D polylines is a pain! That and lines through a viewport or those that AutoCrash doesn't seem to recognize as actual lines so that even snap-to-apparent-intersection won't work!

I've started calling it AutoCrash because Civil 3D 2009 was a major step backwards for memory management. If you don't have it now, do not upgrade to it. Stick with 2008 until they fix this major problem.

9. I have a 2006 copy on my home computer
but I rarely use it.

They try to keep us up-to-date at work. Civil 3D is pretty amazing for what it can do when it doesn't crash. Especially making 3D surfaces and getting data like water flow arrows, topo lines and dynamic cross-section profiles :D

16. Do they use GIS?
That's getting more advanced every day, too. I use it here, though I was never trained in it. I know it has the capability to create alignment sheets with the right addon. And many years ago I worked at the local conglomerate energy company, inputting old work-orders for residential gas lines. These days it wouldn't take near as long to do that work as it did back then. ArcGIS 9.3.1 is pretty cool :D

1990's, and I've been pretty happy about that.

What release are they on now?

12. A VW GTi ad from a few years back.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-y_J77RO-wY

Quite possibly the funniest car ad ever made. It has everything, the guy who played the nihlist from The Big Lebowski talking like a gangsta rapper, a very sexy assistant, a utterly badass trebuchet, and a ridiculoulsy tricked-out shitbox getting flinged by said trebuchet.

23. Osnap, Ortho and Fillet are awsome tools
but Offset is possibly the most under appreciated command in Autocad.

I hardly ever use Autocad anymore though, Tekla Structures is way cooler.

27. No
I use offset alot because most of the drawings that I do are Structural or Mechanical type drawings.

When people ask what I do I usually tell them that I draw squares and rectangles all day with the occasional circle thrown in for fun.
