Here's Who Should Win The Oscars for 2009, Nominated Or Not |
|
Best Actor - Sean Penn, Milk. (Sean totally transforms himself without the help of makeup. )
Best Actress - Meryl Streep (Doubt)
Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)
Best Supporting Actress - Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
Best Director - David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
Best Movie - Wall-E (Although not nominated, it's hands down the best picture that I saw in 2008, and my guess is that in years to come, it will be recognized as such.)

1. I'll second your list, although I didn't see "Doubt". |
|
I get enough of that sort of asinine infighting in my regular life to seek it out in film or fiction.

2. As far as Best Picture goes |
|
the Academy just tells the films to make it as artsy and overambitious as possible. Sometimes, when those making the movie are talented enough to do so, they walk the walk; that's why I think Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, and Frost/Nixon all deserved nominations. But I can think of several movies better than Benjamin Button that went un-nominated (Wall-E being one of them), and I can think of few movies worse than The Reader. Ever.
I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you on Actor (Penn was great, I'm pulling for Rourke), Actress (Streep was great, I'd give it to Hathaway), and Supporting Actress (Tomei). Of the 5 nominees, I'd give both Best Picture and Director to Frost/Nixon. I still think The Dark Knight was the best film of the year, with Wall-E right behind. (Actually, I think Let the Right One In was the best, but that would never have had a shot) And, oh yeah, I'd give Best Picture to Zack and Miri Make a Porno before The Reader.
