Envy me. I ate healthy fast food tonight.
I ate at a fast food place that sells all organic, vegan, and low fat fast food.

:9 :9 :9

I had a Mediterranean salad with chicken breast. Washed it down with green tea. :9 :9

The place was all green bamboo walls and white furniture. And the music was lounge-y. Mr Scorpio, did you do their music consulting? ;-)

It felt like they should also have been serving martinis.

I'll definitely go back again.

1. Where's the fun in that?
I need to go have ribs, brisket, and a fried pickle in your honor.

Live fast, eat well, and leave a bloated corpse.

14. The local BBQ joint has a kick-ass combo
Chicken, ribs, pulled pork, corn bread, "grungy rice", cole slaw.

I'm thinking about skipping the romantic dinner and going there tomorrow. When you're married to a country girl from southeast Arkansas, you can get away with that sort of thing!

2. Sounds delicious!
There should be many more of that kind of fast food restaurant!

I have two Vietnamese pho restaurants within walking distance of where I live. The food is wonderful - and healthy.

5. I wish there were

There are some better choices now to traditional restaurants, but I can still fall off the wagon so easily going there that I just don't want to tempt myself anymore.

Pho is delish! I love the broth. I wish I could replicate it. :9 :9 :9

3. I've eaten there many times.
I love the air fried fries. Evos originated here in Tampa. Glad they've spread out a bit.

7. I really wanted the fries
but I'm doing so well with my regime that I didn't want to risk it.

I did get some of their chili to take home. I'll have that for lunch tomorrow.

Didn't realize they had started in FL.

You mean FL did something right?

10. It's one of the few things, I know.
But yeah, we had three of them in Tampa, and then it started taking off elsewhere.

I used to have e-mail conversations with one of the founders, Dino, about how they needed a couple more vegan options. He and I have a love/hate thing going on.

8. We have NO place like that around here. NO place at all.
The healthiest places fast food-wise we have around here are Abner's and Jason's Deli. And they really aren't fast food.

11. Yes, there's an all soy chicken now
didn't you know?

:P

No they have some vegan food options on the menu, probably moreso than other restaurants. You can turn them carnivorous by adding meat, which is what I did.

Their chili is vegan, for instance. I got some to take home. I'll have that for lunch tomorrow. :9

12. They used to have more vegan options.
It's mostly organic free range critter now, with (I think) one vegan burger and a couple vegan sides (salad, chili, fries).

It used to be a bit better for the veg*n crowd when they first started up.

13. By the way, I am totally psyched that my favorite vegan Chinese restaurant
just opened up a new location 10 minutes from my house. They've added a vegan sushi bar, too.

15. What are the prices like?
The menu you can download from their web site has no prices. It seems like this kind of place would be a huge hit in health-and-fitness conscious southern California, but they have only 2 California locations so far, in faraway San Luis Obispo and Oxnard. The menu looks great.

16. Here, it's very competitive, considering.
Last time I was there, I got the combo meal of the burger, fries and drink, and I think I spent around $5-6. I know you can get McCrap for $4 or so, but the burger is proportionately bigger, and the fries were a larger serving as well.

PLUS, you get an option between 4 different types of ketchup!

17. Thanks, those are good prices
Burger Lounge here, for a comparable meal, would be easily over $11 - burger only is $6.95, fried $2.95, drink $1.95 - all high quality stuff, but twice the price of EVOS. Organic tallgrass-fed beef, organic turkey or quinoa burger and believe it or not, the quinoa is the best tasting of them! EVOS has a much larger and diverse menu though. I hope they open locations in San Diego, I'd become a regular there.
