1. Omg! You still have an IGA!
We used to have one here, but it closed years ago. They had the BEST cookie-buttercream-frosting-sandwiches in the world. :9

2. Yeah. Lots of small towns in Illinois have IGAs.

Small towns in Iowa have Fareways, small towns in Illinois have IGAs. I used to live right behind one in college, in Normal.

Locals here call this one "Handy Foods" which was its name before it became an IGA. The fact that I always call it "the IGA" brands me as newbie. But, try as I might, that red and white sign out front makes it an IGA, no matter what anyone else says.

3. My town has an IGA
I would shop there, but they refuse to carry the gallons of red diamond unsweet tea, the just carry sweet. I tell them, if they would carry unsweet, I would do all my shopping for the shop at their store, but they won't. Crazy, huh? I spend about $300 a week shopping for my shop.

4. That sucks. The one here always advertises that they'll order
whatever you ask for. I've never asked 'em to order anything, though I do wish they had a bigger range of fake meats. But we have 2 Krogers, an Aldi, and a Wal-Mart, too. I don't do Wal-Mart, but will go to the other places if desperate enough. Mostly, though I go to the IGA, because it's locally owned.

11. I was in Dubuque for a meeting last year, and we all went on this bus tour.
At one point, when they were talking about the importance of lead mining to the area, the tour guide passed around a very small lump of lead. It was amazing how many people wouldn't even touch it for a second. I thought it bizarre all around...that the guide thought we'd never seen a rock (which was all it looked like) before, or that people were afraid touching it for a nano-second would give 'em cancer or whatever.

12. Heh. It takes a bit of heavy metals in your system to add up.

8. Well, I need bread and soymilk, too.
I'm out of the staples, so might as well go get 'em.

13. Wow. There's a bunch around here. I had a hospital visit
in Peoria Tuesday, and drove back on back roads, through a bunch of small towns. There was an IGA in almost every one. Somehow, we have both Wal-Mart and IGA.
