Battlestar Galactica fans: what say you all? |
|
This week we saw Ellen with the Cylons, and unlike the previews implied, she wasn't the bitch queen. There was a lot of exposition on who the final five were and what their relationship was with the other Cylons, but despite being talk heavy, it worked for me, and even had one great scene with #1, John, that was the opposite of Star Trek's Data's lament: He berated his maker for making him ''only'' human.

2. I didn't think they could top the occupation, then the mutiny, but I think they've got another |
|
topper in them.
Maybe they'll have to decide whether to jump when the Cylons show up, and the ship will disintegrate.
I'm trying to figure out a scenario that leads to the final five, baltar, hera, and six in the Opera House.

Ellen's "old equipment" is there, and they're going to have to find it I imagine. I suspect a structure quite like the Opera House is there.

3. and what about the 8? The artistic one that Ellen said John destroyed? |
|
But probably still survived or there would be no reason to mention him?
Is it Baltar or Gaeta? Or someone we don't think of as artistic?

8. There's a connection there with Starbuck ... |
|
I could guess what it is, but it'd just be a guess.
The mentioning of #8 being artistic leads one directly to Starbuck's obsessive painting and pattern drawing that turned out to be the Eye of Jupiter. There's a lot of funky stuff going on with her, more than just her viper and body being found on Earth.

4. I just finished watching it on the DVR. I'm even more convinced now that they are all cyclons. |
|
It seemed to me like they were describing a nuclear scenario on Earth that played out exactly like what happened on Caprica.

5. yeah, when Ellen mentioned they lost the resurrection technology and went back to procreating |
|

7. Ellen mentioned humans abusing Cylons and that was in newer clip for CAPRICA series |
|
Eric Stoltz is being led through some club where a girl is telling him which rooms are for orgies, murder, human sacrifice...presumably they could do all that to people because they were Cylons or the equivalent.

10. See, I think it all revolves around the evolutionary cycle. I think the "humans" are the most |
|
evolved cylons and then they create their own "cylons" who then start the evolutionary chain again. The "humans" then treat the less evolved cylons as slaves because they think they are lesser beings.

6. I stopped watching previews ... |
|
... about two seasons ago. They're always misleading. The only thing you can get from them are, sometimes, the broad idea of what the show is about and what characters will be in that episode, e.g. Ellen being in this one.
I don't know how to put it other than I thought the whole episode was excellent. I had one, minor, technical complaint about the editing. The breaking between Tyrol working on the ship and showing up to check on Anders doesn't seem time consistent. He's done a helluva a lot of work down there patching breaks in the structure and finding the other problems, but he shows up for those gatherings as though he's just been out strolling.
As I said, it's minor, but that caused a little break for me mentally in paying attention to the story.
As for John Cavil, Dean Stockwell is just an excellent actor, and I think we saw that in full display here. He's perfect for that role and has played it to the hilt.
The "Final Five" episodes is going to be quite interesting.

11. Another continuity issue... |
|
Two exterior shots of the Galactica showed Colonial One traveling alongside. However, Colonial One had been docked onboard the Galactica since Zarek shot the Quorum of 12.
But, I loved the episode!
