I took a bunch of kids to see "Coraline" on Friday
it was in 3D with the glasses and everything (does it show that I don't know much about animation or stop-motion, or whatever it was?)

This was by far one of the most visually stunning and exqusitely realized films I have seen a very long time. It was a gorgeous thing to see, I was totally speechless. Beautiful and nightmarish and funny and scary -- I've just never seen things done like that in animation before. Truly something. Not for the little little ones, but a great film for older kids and parents. Highly recommended!!

1. We enjoyed the hell out of it.
I'd never seen a 3-D movie before, and this was fantastic.

Now I'll have to reread the book.

Certainly marketed that way.

But it's a great read.

But the director also did A Nightmare Before Christmas.

6. i could see how someone would mistake it for burton, though
it's very burton-esque.

Henry Selick directed it, and Coraline as well.

7. my littles sisters loved it
the oldest of them got upset(not scared) though at the sad lesson Coraline learned.

i think just about every kid has had a "i wish i had another family!" moment like Coraline.

9. my mom keeps insisting that I see it
since she's convinced that Coraline is a play on my name (Caroline). I'll see it eventually or if she wants to pay for it.

The book's great as well. Might be a little creepy for small kids though.
