Anyone here use the newest version of Microsoft Word?
I just spent an hour and a half writing up a report for work, saving it along the way, and I can't find the damned thing! The new version of Word sucks. It's difficult to figure out, common commands (like SAVE) are hidden better than the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and now I can't find the document I just typed and saved!

Anyone else use this newest version? If so, got any suggestions as to how I can find my damned document?

Oy.

I have a headache.

1. isn't it listed in your 'Recent Documents" list?
and once you get on to the new 'ribbon' command structure you'll love it

at least I do......

2. No, it's not there.
It doesn't appear to be anywhere, which makes no sense if I saved it.

And what is the "ribbon" command?

7. Thanks for the link to the tutorial, NM
Apparently, after using Word for more years than I can recall, it's time to go back to "school" again.

4. The "ribbon" is not a command, it refers to Office 2007's new layout.
Instead of the standard menus, you've got tabs that are subdivided into sections along the "ribbon."

One other feature is the "Office button" in the top left corner:

This button has many of the common functions such as save, open, print, etc. Clicking this will open a "Recent Documents" list. Maybe it's there?

5. good tip
I haven't been word processing in my job the last few months

but I did a big document with 2007 and really liked the new layout once I got on to it

17. True. It certainly does take some getting used to.
For one thing, the placement of some of the items is different from older Office versions--if, for instance, I want to insert comments into the document, I need to use the Review tab, and not Insert--even though "Insert" is the section where "Insert Comment" appears on Word 2003.

Further, there is no way to get rid of the ribbon in 2007, although you can temporarily hide it by double clicking on the active tab's title.

If you absolutely need your menus, though, you might look into this piece of shareware:

6. I did that, as well as the "save as" thing, and I still can't find the
document.

If I saved it, I figure it has to be somewhere. I just need to figure out where.

I'm just pretty frustrated. It's like throwing 90 minutes of time I should be paid for down the drain.

13. That is a good tip
Expecially if you include hidden/system file folders cuz documents can get saved in the strangest places.
