11. Just remember if you're doing anything in places where there might be any body hair
you HAVE to make sure the rings are closed cleanly. You don't want stray hairs getting caught there. Owch.

12. That's very, very cool.
I went to a birthday dinner yesterday at a Lebanese restaurant that had a professional belly dancer. She was absolutely incredibly amazing! OMG! I can't imagine how exhausting it must be to move that way for that long. And, I can't imagine how every straight guy there wasn't needing to go change their shorts afterward. :P

Wearing chainmail while dancing though? Wow! That's got to be difficult unless it's just around their waist and maybe small bangles around their wrists. The jangle of the chainmail would go very well with the dancing though.

13. Yeah, it's just small light stuff.
They bought little light rings from the jewelry section at my store, I'm gonna make what's called a 'handflower' for them. It's basically a triangle of chainmail on the top of the hand that connects to a bracelet on one end and a loop around the middle finger on the other end. :)

Edited on Sun Feb-15-09 09:54 PM by Jamastiene
It might be a rink a dink little hick town in the middle of nowhere, but somehow this woman has made them stop chastising her by pointing out that it is a Middle Eastern form of dance and that they are very conservative. That seemed to get her foot in the door. I'm glad too. I saw her once in the grocery store and fell madly in love. She was fucking gorgeous and they way she moved just walking was absolutely amazing. I was left drooling in the checkout lane. :P

41. I can totally believe she left you drooling.
The muscle control that dancer last night had over every visible part of her body was just totally amazing. Belly dancing has to be the most athletic thing I've witnessed in a long time.

Anyone who can master this is going to be just amazingly graceful, and is going to know how to move her body is the most flattering ways.

16. So does your store stocks the rings?
I had a source for rings that I used to make wallet chains, but they quit. I'd like to do it again. These were stainless steel, and about 1cm in diameter, and pretty heavy gauge.

17. We don't generally have the big or sturdy ones,
but we do have little jewelry ones, which is what they'd want for a handflower. Back when I was doing chainmail more often I used to order rings online. Sometimes just look for the cheapest price for a pound on eBay, sometimes I'd find sites that did interesting things like anondized aluminum for colored rings, ect.

30. Those are all jewelry type like what I'm gonna be using for this project
but not big or sturdy enough for heavy duty stuff. The lightest guage I ever used for anything armor-ish was 16, and most of the time I used 14 gauge. The jewelry stuff is mostly 18-20 gauge.

And now that I have my tax refund, I finally bought my domain name again. My (*&%ing hosting company changed their name and started a bunch of stuff over... and in the process lost the information about my leatherworking/chainmail site. So for a few months the domain name was no longer connected to the server, and then the domain name expired before they got around to fixing the problem. :banghead:

So I searched around for a new host. Which I just found and signed up for. :) And as soon as my other domain name is free (that one expired too, but there seems to be squatters on it at the moment. Same as the ones who snagged my last one when it expired, but they gave up after a couple months.) I'll add that one to the new account and tell my old host to go (*&% themselves.

37. That sucks about your web-troubles.
I hate cyber-squatters (and patent-squatters, too) and there oughtta be a law.

I don't have a site of my own, but if I do, I plan on using this hosting service: http://www.aiso.net/ :D

I'm sure your customers will be happy. You should go to one of their shows, too ;)
