Can someone help me with a MS Word question about headers? |

I have a document that I need to have a header at the top and a page number also at the top. When I tell it to put in a header it does but when I tell it to number the pages at the top, the header goes away. What am I doing wrong? I have Windows Vista if that changes anything.

describing is to insert a page # then try to insert another. Is the 'header' you're inserting a form of autotext, which is replaced when you add a page number, or are you opening the header and typing something in?
Anyway, I can't really help, but here's a kick...

When you edit the header, you have to create a header that has the header text you want, AND the page numbering. Probably something like "custom header" if you have that as an option.
