My in-laws gave me a gift card for Olive Gardens.
I think they are trying to kill me.

2. No, I still have some functioning taste buds and I want to protect them from harm.
I'm drinking Ouzo now to soften the horror and revulsion that sweeps over me when I think of that place.

An old man and his son are in the living room. In front of them is the dog. The dog was busy licking his butt. The son asks the father, "why is the dog doing that"?

The father replies "mom brought home a doggie bag from Olive Gardens and now he's trying to get rid of the taste."

3. Get the salad and breadsticks and a glass of wine
Yes I admit I've eaten at an Olive Garden once (I was someone's guest and they chose it) and I admit that I thought the soft breadsticks were actually pretty tasty. So just make the best of it.

4. I was underwhelmed. The lasagna was tasteless, the salad was iceberg
lettuce, the pasta overcooked. The Eggplant parmesan was uninspired. The breading could have been much better if they had put spice in it. The potato sausage soup was just careless. It had the seasoning about right, but little thought went into the vegetables. The bread sticks really needed more butter, garlic and salt. They were bland. I've gotten better bread at Krogers. I didn't get dessert, and didn't order wine. I was afraid the wine might come with a straw in it.

On the bright side: There were plenty parking spaces.

5. Sadly, the Olive Garden closest to us never has any open parking spaces. Why is that sad?
Because in a city with as many AMAZING restaurant options as Chicago has, there are so many people who willingly choose Baked Corporate Bland smothered with Average Sauce. Oh well, to each his or her own, I guess. :)

12. Fazoli's has better Lasagna and you don't need to get out of your car.
I remember my wife being dismayed over seeing how popular Long John Silver's was in San Francisco.
