Already a neighbor has dropped by to... compliment my long dormant talent. I'm thinking of calling Springsteen and offering my services for a very reasonable rate-- what rock band wouldn't want a bass clarinet stealing the limelight, the groupies and the thunderous applause from them?

Eric Dolphy can bite me! Between my talent and my wine, I've already done a mean cover of Thunder Road. Move over Neal Peart-- I'm gonna do a twenty minute bass clarinet solo to Radio Days!!!

(And this is why I should never, ever post while under the influence of wine....)

1. *gasp* I used to play one of those!!
I would occasionally switch over from my Bb clarinet in jr. high and high school to bass clarinet or sax, just for a change. Makes one of the loveliest sounds in the lower register I've ever heard. Congratulations on your new toy!!

2. My running joke in high school
My running joke in high school was that I was considered one of the ten best bass clarinetists in TX. I never mentioned aloud that there were only ten bass clarinetists in TX.... :)

(Thanks...)

Very cool for you!
I switched from flute to bass clarinet in middle school 'cause they had so many flutes in our band. I picked it back up last year (I work at a middle school now) when the teachers at our school put together a staff band. I love it!

3. ... you'd think the US 'cruel and unusual punishment' laws would forbid the sale of that device.
