Does it have to rain when I'm trying to move?! Packing boxes and shlepping crap in the rain is crappy! Can't the wet stuff just come down at night? Sob.

</crappy thread is crappy>

Love, grouchy Starry.

1. You shouldn't try to move in Cal this time of the year
I'm not even from Cal, and I know that. Then again, I only know that from watch the Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament every year, which is ALWAYS rain delayed. Ugh.

2. Everyone must know that rule but me. :P
On the upside though, since no one was looking but us, we found a sweet little apartment that was exactly what I wanted. So we fooled the moving gods. Now they are exacting their price.

And yes, it was raining while we were looking around. Stay warm and safe.

9. Thank you Sequoia.
Rain makes me klutzy. I'm like a miserable cat. A nice rant in the Lounge has helped though. :D

3. I did the same thing last year ...
We moved in the middle of a big ass rain storm. LUCKILY the day we moved it cleared up and just as they unloaded the last boxes at the new house .... it started POURING!!

This rain needs to click it down!

Oh man, I will never do this again. I keep trying to visualize how nice all of my stuff is going to look in the cute new place. That is keeping me sane. Barely.

7. Ooh, (gentle) hugs KW.
That sounds awful. I'm just a big baby really. I hate it falling on me. Getting my stuff wet. The dark.

10. "It never rains in California..."
Edited on Tue Feb-17-09 07:12 PM by Gormy Cuss
you know how the song goes.

I feel for you -- I rearranged my schedule so that I don't need to be outside much until later in the week. I can't imagine how miserable it must be for you today. On the other side of the hills from you it's been pouring in sheets of rain all day.

on edit: I looked for a rental during an El Nino February and that was bad enough. At least when we finally moved in it was late enough in the rainy season that we hit a sunny window.

13. Hi Gormy!
Man it pours...:)

I got home from work and it started to fall sideways! It think it's starting to taper off, now. Yeah Oakland is usually relatively nice. You guys get hit with the concentrated family size version of our weather!

11. Not to piss and moan all over the lounge
but we have a leaking window.

We just punched holes in the wall so the drywall doesn't rot. x(

14. That sounds really yucky, Xema!
Sorry about that, too. We just have a spot in the roof that "rains" on us, but the floors of the warehouse are concrete. The only thing that rots is my temper.

16. Yikes!
Rain, Californians (none of us, of course), and driving don't seem to mix well. We've been on the road a lot with our stuff this week and a I'm wearing a groove in the "oh, shit" handle of the truck. Stay safe!

maybe he couldn't stop or maybe he didn't see the sign, anyhow, Volvo wagon Vs. Older Jetta, Volvo won but the good thing is that everyone walked away alright.

So far my efforts to send it anywhere else have been in vain, but not because I'm not trying. Now that I know where to aim, maybe it will work this time. ;)

22. Thank you for the heads up!
I'll be running between the rain drops. We saved the big stuff for last and the computers. This should be fun. Whee! :D The new place is non-leaky and has lots of light so I'm thinking happy thoughts.
