7. But but but aren't they made in CHINA???
No, no grasshopper.

Many reuseable metals are, but (from the SIGG site):

All Aluminum SIGG bottles are made in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. Frauenfeld is one of the eight districts of the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. Its capital, and the capital of Thurgau, is the city of Frauenfeld. For more information, please visit our ABOUT US page.

SIGG bottles are extruded from a single 'puck' of Aluminum, and can be recycled. Watch a video of our manufacturing process:

60. Correct :)
from the SIGG FAQ at reusablebags.com

Please note: You may notice that the inside of your new SIGG aluminum bottle looks a little different than your old SIGG bottle. SIGG is currently transitioning from their old liner to a new liner (which looks milky yellow). Both liners have been thoroughly tested to ensure 0% leaching of any substance - no trace of BPA, BPB or any phthalates.

31. I'll say it. SIGG does not use Bisphenol A in their aluminum bottles.
That is of concern only with polycarbonate (plastic) bottles.

Bisphenol A, commonly abbreviated as BPA, is an organic compound with two phenol functional groups. It is a difunctional building block of several important polymers and polymer additives. With an annual production of 2–3 million tonnes, it is an important monomer in the production of polycarbonate.

The original ones, not those Lexan jobs.

SIGG water bottles dent and the inside liner breaks when you accidentally shut the trunk lid on them (or so I hear). Nalgenes don't.

59. Those are the Lexan ones.
I've chucked all of those, including the Easter Island head water bottle, which I was very sad to part with. :(

The non-Lexan ones don't have BPA in them; they're made of a different material. As many water bottles as we own/owned (there are only 4 in the house right now), I went rather bananas when this BPA thing came out and threw away any that were made of poison. :)

"are ultra-lightweight, durable, great-looking, 100% recyclable and, most importantly, safe. We feature a range of styles and sizes - from colorful Kids bottles to cool Lifestyle Designs & Traveler / Sport bottles to SIGG Stainless Steel, there's a SIGG style for everyone."

http://www.reusablebags.com/store/sigg-c-33.html?osCsid=51608eda9c3dd942f4cfa2b97b7d8f1c

:)

I use stainless steel Klean Kanteen brand bottles instead. Whole Foods sells the SIGG bottles, so I got to have a close look at them before deciding and I didn't like what I saw and felt. They are very thin, all aluminum, which also means an interior plastic coating to prevent acidic substances from leaching more aluminum into your diet than is safe. At the same time, that coating is often not a safe kind of coating, though I know SIGG is aware of this and isn't using those types of coatings. Still, all it takes is a scratch through the coating and the leaching will occur. Whereas stainless is inert with no coating :D

Mostly, I did not like how thin they were and easily damaged.
