Does anybody really like those chalky hearts?
I know that pregnant women are supposed to eat clay for some reason, they could probably just add water to a box of chalky hearts. Maybe they were made for pregnant women.

The candies were probably manufactured in the 1920s and have been sitting in a warehouse on a dock in Weewawken ever since then. Wait, Weewawken is on some waterway where they do a lot of shipping, correct? I hope so, I only used it because it sounds funny in a vaudeville sort of way, but I digress.

Necco wafers are probably the only candies older than candy hearts, how do I know? My dad used to love them at the orphanage he grew up at where the nuns used to beat him.

Any way, the hearts, yeah, the box o' hearts, found along with a pair of reading glasses with one lens busted out, a couple of Bicycle joker cards with some syrupy goop sticking them together, some old keys to vehicles that have long since been taken to the junkyard. Amongst all this junk is where you will find the hearts. The junk drawer in the very back next to the cough drops.

That's what everybody's junk drawer looks like, right? For the record, I like the licorice Necco wafers, my dad liked licorice too, must be where I got from because nobody like licorice.

7. I'd gladly take cinnamon hearts over the compacted chalk dust hearts anyday.
Miss Hrothmar's chalkboard is the likely source for said chalky seasonal "hearts".

quite a pleasant surprise!

Necco wafers are probably the only candies older than candy hearts

Guess who's the leader in candy hearts??

P.S. It's Weehawken, NJ, on the Hudson River opposite NYC. :-)

9. That's why I put those two together, It's the same damn company.
How could I miss that? One chalky round candy and one chalky heart shaped candy, who would have thought they were manufactured by the same company? It's a conspiracy I tells ya!

I was correct though, chalky hearts were started in 1902 and chalky wafers were started in 18something. Hey why no DU white heart?
