Should I adopt another kitty?
Gomez my black cat misses other cats. He's around ten years old and lonely... He liked Felix even though he got hissed at a lot trying to play with a guy eight years older but when Felix went to kitty heaven it affected him...I live in a nice spacious apartment now but even when I let him outside he just seems depressed...and so do I just dealing with him! I would have gotten another cat by now but the fact I'm unemployed always factored in...But I'm willing to go to a shelter and find an older cat looking for a home... it wouldn't be that much more of an expense...I'm really mainly concerned about Gomez...I want him to have a better life...

sounds like Gomez feels lonely.

2. I'm thinking I should
I'd like to get an older cat, rather than a kitty...I'm thinking of him, really...he is supremely lovable but not happy...I rescued him when he was six weeks old and small enough to stand up in the palm of my hand...He grew up when I had roommates and their cats around...But he bonded with Felix and really misses feline companionship... I've been unemployed over a year and was waiting for better times but that doesn't seem to matter anymore...I really do feel I can care for another cat!

3. That is a good idea
getting an older cat. Maybe you can make a deal with the rescue place that you try it and see if Gomez bonds with the cat.

4. That's a good idea.
It'd be a shame if you got another cat only to find out that he and Gomez didn't get along. Most shelters will let you try it out. At my shelter, you'd still have to get the new cat all his shots first, but it'd be worth it. I wish you the best of luck. It's definitely worth a try. (And I think another kitty would make you happy, too)! You're a kitty angel.

5. yes
I know a person who is friends who runs the cat shelter ...I love cats so this is no small matter... I do hate the idea of adopting a cat and having to return it, though...once I choose I keep'em...

7. that would be great, yes indeed...
Gomez is big, around 20 lbs... plus he does have claws... but he likes staying around home and he is a gentle cat...I do happen to be his master so I'm thinking I shall leave this up to my best judgement! Wish me well!

10. Two kitties are mandatory three is even better.
Single cats often end up like only children, Spoiled fat lazy and mentally ill.

Get your cat a buddy or two.

*Plus a young cat will make your old guy more active extending his life.

13. If you really think you can afford it get one. Two cats are better than one. And yes they do get
lonely alone. I have one that will almost wail when the other cat and I are out of the room.

16. Seconded
I second this comment. Older pets often languish away in shelters with most people wanting younger kittens and puppies.

Older pets are wonderful companions and KUDOS to you for thinking along these terms.

Good luck and I will hope for something extraordinarily special for you for being willing to save a kitty life!

17. Here is an idea:
Go to the shelter and tell them exactly what you just told us. Ask them if they have a slightly older cat that would be a good fit for the situation. They might have just the perfect cat (age and temperament wise) for your situation. You'd be surprised how just explaining it to the people who deal with the animals every day like you just explained it to us will help them help you better.

Gl in cat buddy finding. :hi:
