Could you have lain on it wrong? Pinched a nerve?
My aunt used to get "frozen shoulder" and would do exercises where she slowly walked her hand up a wall from arm's length away.
I hope it unkinks on you soon.

7. ice it, take some ibuprofen. |
|
just try to raise it a little higher each time you try to move it. Gently. Frozen shoulder syndrome is a weird thing. I hope it gets better soon. That really is annoying.
Mine acts up if I lean too much on the arm rests of my computer chairs both at home and at work. I have the most problem raising it to the side, but not if I am pointing directly in front of me.
Interestingly, people often have a shoulder problem and a problem in the opposing hip. Mine is right hip, left shoulder. The hip was problematic first.

9. arm/hip - that's weird |

I never heard of frozen shoulder syndrome. The first I heard "frozen shoulder" is when Mrs. G. mentioned it above.
thank you

13. I have the same problem with my right shoulder |
|
and I do the walking my arm up the wall too. I'm currently having muscle spasms in it, which is really annoying.
Hope it's better soon!

5. I hope the problem is very temporary. |
|
I can't raise my left arm because of something wrong with the rotator cuff, but with everything else going on that is so minor I haven't had the time or energy to deal with it.
Hopefully you DON'T have a join problem. I hope you just slept on it wrong and it's back to normal in a few hours. :)

I'm probably going to be in the same boat in the next 24 hours or so as my meds kick in and make the lymph nodes in my arm pits so painful I can't lift my arm up either..

I'll go to the doctor if it doesn't resolve itself over the weekend. Hard to function with half an arm.

14. I hope it's not bursitis... |
|
I hope it's not bursitis. I had a bout of it for the first time early last year and it was quite a pain in the... shoulder.

15. I don't think it is . . . |
|
. . . if I remember my anatomy correctly, the bursa is in a different place than where this pain is.

17. If the pain was constant, I would suggest bursitis. If it's just when you try to raise your |
|
arm, it could be rotator cuff tendonitis. If it was a rotator cuff tear, you probably wouldn't be able to raise your arm at all.
Have it looked at... :-)
And get better. B-)

I had it. It's not fun.
Of course, it may not be bursitis, so you should check w/ your doc.
When I had bursitis the doctor warned against keep the arm stationary. Apparently that can lead to frozen shoulder, which is a whole different ball of wax.
Again, you may not have bursitis... and I'm not a doctor.
Anyway, I hope you feel better.
