Optical mouse

The scroll-wheel seems to be totally insane on our mouse. If we try to use the scroll, the screen jumps up and down as if we were spinning the wheel back and forth. This is especially noticable on scroll-to-zoom applications such as GoogleMaps and the like.

Is this something I can fix, or do I just need to buy a new mouse?

1. You could try changing the batteries (if it is cordless)

you can also try installing the latest drivers. I don't have all that much beyond those two suggestions

3. I should have mentioned that it's not wireless

But I'll check on the latest driver. I was using a nine-iron, and it just wasn't getting the job done.

2. I'm thinking you must have mouse settings of some sort in your control panel.

Tweak those settings some and see if that helps. :)
