Aww Larry Miller died.
He bugged me, but without him, there would never be Jazz in Utah. :P

3. Oh no. We knew he was very ill but this is still sad and a shock nontheless
I met him once at a Jazz event. Funny how I heard this here first instead of on Jazzfanz...all the conservatards there are tough to deal with.

The leagues will be honoring him at every game tonight. Condoleces to the Miller family, the Jazz family, and everyone else who loved him.

Coming on top of Socks Clinton's death earlier today, I'm devastated right now.

If you don't want to post in in this thread (like anyone here goes there anyway) PM me so I can say hi and we can gang up on the conservatards together.

8. Well then, nice to meet you, Drunken Irishman Zombie!
And a Jazz fan too. That's 3 out of 3 very good things to be. :hi:

I'm Catzies over there too, same avatar to boot, and I have the distinction of being the first poster ever on that board. Me and Jazzfanz go back a very long way.

16. I forgot some. Karl beamed when I asked if his mom would pose with us
She gave me a hug and we talked fishing and Karl stood there and just beamed. And after I had my pic taken with John I fell apart, my knees were shaking so badly.

22. Thankfully, it wasn't him
Just another LDS homophobe from SLC.

Oh. And he brought a pro ball team to Utah.

10. New Orleans should call their NBA franchise
the Great Salt Lakes. Just to get even.

15. LOL!
Everything goes in New Orleans. I'm sure they could have made room for some Mormons.

17. Not living in SLC, I don't get to see the TV tributes, but I got this:
Jazz to wear patch honoring Larry Miller
February 21st, 2009 @ 3:59pm
Utah Jazz news release

The Utah Jazz announced today that the team will honor the memory of late owner Larry H. Miller by wearing a memorial "LHM" patch on their jerseys for the remainder of the season.

The patch will debut Saturday night as the Jazz hosts the New Orleans Hornets in the first Jazz game since Miller's passing on Feb. 20.

The purple patch with green and gold trim is in the shape of the Jazz music note logo and inscribed with Miller's initials, "LHM," in white block letters. The music note logo is representative of the team's logo, colors and jerseys which were worn at the time Miller originally purchased a 50 percent stake in the team in 1985, and the remaining 50 percent in 1986. The Jazz wore the music note jerseys until the 1996-97 season.

Prior to tonight's game at EnergySolutions Arena, there will also be a moment of silence held, followed by a 2-minute tribute video to Miller. It will conclude with a spotlight focused on the empty courtside seat that Miller commonly occupied during Jazz games.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My favorite logo of theirs has always been the musical note. I don't buy all their merch. anymore, and my favorite of what I do have is a retro Stockton jersey, like the one they reitredhis number on.
So here's a graphic with the memorial patch on the side:
18. Question for SLC Jazz fans----
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 02:09 PM by abq e streeter
a guy I knew in high school; (can't say we were friends; more like acquaintances, , but we knew each other, and played softball occasionally after high school), became director of player personnel , or something like that for the Jazz. His name is Walt Perrin ( he was "Pookie" in H.S. ; I probably had known him for 2 or 3 years before I found out his name was Walter). Just wondering if you guys know if he's still with the Jazz?
20. I believe he is still with the Jazz.
Back in 2003 there were talks of him becoming the GM at Charlotte, but he withdrew his name.
As of 2007 he was still with Utah.
