Any Word gurus around? I'm stuck again... |
|
Sorry to have to bug people about this one. I just can't seem to figure it out.
I've got Word for mac 12.1.5. I'm trying to insert some @!)#! running heads in this MS. The headers are supposed to show "CHAPTER #" flush left outside (even-numbered pages) and "CHAPTER NAME" flush right outside (odd-numbered pages).
WTF? Do I really have to hand-enter each header? I just can't figure this out. The section breaks are all in place.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks for any help.
(grovel, grovel, grovel...I really need help...)

1. I've had trouble with the same thing.... |

Sorry I can't be more specific...recall it being frustrating...but I think you need to find the little button/icon that means "keep headers" intact...figuring if you have just turned it on or off was part of the problem....sorry...hope this sets you on the path.....

2. I use Word on a PC, so it may be different, but under Page Setup you can |
|
check a box for different headers on odd/even pages. Then, you just put in the first odd header and the first even header. At the beginning of each section, you format the first header to not be linked to the previous...

Holy shit, you just saved me like 5 hours. I can't, can't thank you enough.

and create them that way, but I haven't been able to make them come up with autotext alternately that way.
SO IRRITATING!
I'm still trying, though. It looks like the Page Setup might do it.
Crossing fingers and toes...
