1. I miss my ability to daydream.
Now, reality has set in so hard, I cannot even imagine a nice daydream.

Well, in my head anyway! :D

Chronological youth? Mixed bag.

3. My answer would vary depending on how you define "young."
Kid? Teen? 20-something?

6. I agree. And there are things about middle age that are better
When you are young you can't believe it won't suck entirely, because you have no idea how much more you will know that will help.

7. I'm still young.
Although when i was a kid i thought over 40 was ancient.

I recently realized my grandmother was 46 when I was born. Same age as I am now.

WOW

side of the equation.

9. A vote againswt youth! I was pretty unhappy and depressed a lot of the time
in my childhood and youth, and I am neither one now in my oldth.

I'm glad for all who had a happy childhood, and still a litle envious.

10. I was less fearful when I was younger.
I had a pretty easy childhood/adolescence, in most respects (although high school beat me down psychologically with all the crap and the snotty kids, etc.), and I even had a horse. Financially, that time was much better for me. College and grad school were not problems to pay for and I traveled a lot in my early 20s, etc. As time has gone on the reality of what it costs just to live are hitting me harder and harder. Mortgage, insurance, house repairs, car upkeep, the cost of raising children, etc. etc. I often wake up at night in an anxious sweat, wondering how my old age will be and wondering where the money will come from to send the kids to college, etc.

My 20-something brain was way too irrational

21. YEAH! What you said...
Only it's my 50+ year old brain in a 20-year old body...
and it doesn't necessarily have to be my own, either.

I miss easy (as in thoughtless) mobility.

14. I'd give it an overall 'pretty good' if you mean childhood, teens.
If you mean being in your 20s?
Yeah, dood, awesome.
I was bulletproof and omnipotent.
I was a dashing young fighter pilot.
Drinking while driving my MGB (British sports cars were very cool back then when your ride was VERY important) was a 'hang it over the edge' pastime when I wasn't helling around in my plane and hanging it all out there.
Did I mention I was bulletproof?
Absolutely fearless?
And stupid.
;-)
Happily I eventually got a little smarter and that's why I'm still here 40 years later.

I don't mention the women because I really hate a braggart.

18. I knew you were a commercial pilot
But didn't know you were a fighter pilot! I guess you got ALL of it! :)

I was thinking about something like 18-30.

23 was the best year for me. At least "like that."

So far.

:D

16. Pre-millenium 60s-00 was young and fun for me, for the most part...
Post-millenium, ehh...

The 21st century has sucked so far in almost every way, except for broadband internet and HDTV, IMO.

I thought that by now we wound be driving flying cars, and have human colonies on Mars.

Fuck you, Jetsons!!

17. lots of feathered hair and my very own Members Only jacket.
I was a teen in the early eighties and had a blast!

Although I was a bit of a dork my freshman year and was constantly picked on, by the time I was a senior, mt defense mechanism (humor... and the coolest guy in school who wanted me to be part of the "in-crowd" because of it) allowed me a big, fat, giant group of friends in high school from almost every social spectrum, I dated the girls I wanted to date, my parents gave me boundaries but few hassles, and I still somehow managed to maintain my naivete and my innocent outlook on life.

All in all a glorious time with few responsibilities, lots of feathered hair and my very own Members Only jacket.

So my mother always said and she's right. I may be growing older but I can remain immature indefinitely.

28. My actual life was shittier but I had the self-confidence to deal with it.
My mid-twenties were a lot worse than my teens because I lost my self-righteous shield against all the world's bullshit.
