What are some of the BEST Jerry Lewis movies?? |
|
I usually go for the more intense films (thrillers, action, horror) but after seeing the clips of Jerry Lewis films at the Oscar's on Sunday during his tribute, I'd like to see a few of his movies....What are some DUers recommendations of his funniest movies?....
I did see "Nutty Professor" years ago, & I didn't like it at all...I'm guessing his better movies were the ones w/Dean Martin in the 1950's.....
Thanks

2. "It'$ Only Money" had me in stitches when I was a kid |

And in defense of "The Nutty Professor", it had one of the best transformation scenes in Jekyll/Hyde film history. Plus it's fascinating to watch his portrayal of Buddy Love, who was an exaggeration of Lewis's off-screen persona. Is Lewis making fun of himself or does he not see the resemblance? We will never figure out Jerry Lewis and his genius.

7. The film was very good overall |
|
But Jerry Lewis in particular was amazing. It's kind of like how we see Robin Williams' best work when he's not acting like Robin Williams. Lewis' restraint and his slow-boil performance was a perfect counterpoint to De Niro's Pupkin.

Although he has only a tiny, uncredited part in it, he is in it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057193/

Not well known, but great film. I guess I liked it because I've known people IRL that are a lot like some of the characters.
