Is every single posting on craigslist a scam?
repscheapfabrics@aol.com to me

Hello,

How is your day?

We are a fabrics company in UK ,We have recently expanded our market to the States, where we have several customers and clients who order and purchase our textile materials,Presently our company has finally established a new local center in your area for our clients and customers to pay and also pick up their bulk orders. We are inviting some investors who are coming to the states to monitor our operations for a month,we have actually leased a house for a month, where our investor will be staying during this period.

We would be very interested in offering you this part-time driving job in which you could earn over $1000 per week. This job has been developed in a way not to affect your present job nor bring you any form of stress but in order to help take care of those extra costs in the area of Financial Independence, and also empower you by providing the keys to controlling your income and quality in life. It is a part-time job and it would involve quite a lot of honesty and dedication.

We are looking for a Driver that would cater for our Investors when they come over to the States. We basically want a driver who will convey our investors from their apartment and to our local office there and also to various places during their stay.

Your duties are

- To ensure that they are picked at the airport and dropped at the house
- Drop at and pick up client time to time.

A Conference/workshop at the local office usually takes 2 or 3 days, therefore you would make yourself available 2 or 3 times a week and would not take more than 2 hours of you time since you would drop and come back to pick up at the end of the office each day. You would be informed a week or two prior to the arrival date of each client and we intend to make sure you have your car ready and in good shape by then and we would be responsible for Gas.

Note that It is important you put your car in good shape, and if you feel your car is out of shape, we require you to hire one, and we are willing to bear the cost if the amount is reasonable. Remember, the car must be comfortable, presentable and in good condition.

We are offering $500 per client and you will make yourself available 3 days a week, and for 1-2 hours each day. Also I want you to know that our counterparts would be sending you Payments for the Job. We intend to pay you a weeks payment upfront just so you knew we are serious and so that you can get your car in good shape.

The payments would be made out to you soon. I believe the above job duties are easy, risk free and on the up and up. You would enjoy the benefits of easy contact, and low hours. This job involve quite a lot of honesty and you are required to be neat and put up a friendly attitude to our clients. I believe you will be able to do this job.

Do get back to me with the following details by filling the below application form, so that the necessary arrangements will be made.

3. Um, no.
I sold an elliptical trainer on Craigslist, and my husband has an amp and floor pod on Craigslist right now.

Some of the RESPONSES he has gotten to his ads have been scammy ("Send me the items along with your address so I can send you a check.").

7. Some of the non-scam CL posts are almost as bad
I was going to buy a used Saab from a guy on there. We talked for a while, then agreed to meet. "Meet me at (gave location that doesn't exist in my community)."

IIRC it was at a drugstore on a certain street in "south Fayetteville" near the railroad tracks.

Turns out the drugstore was in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I'm in a different Fayetteville.

But the Volvo I bought off CL is working really well.

12. I've sold several things on Craig's list ans so have many folks I
know. All have been with good results. I have met the buyer after e-mails, a phone call from me to then in discussion of the item. You cal tell a lot from just speaking with someone. They all khow the rules=cash.

I have met then all in my yard and have chosen to bring them onto my kitchen only to complete the transaction.

I have received the-"i want to buy your item, I'll send certified check" type response=delete
the "please donate to our charity so we can sell it=delete.

I am from Texas(New england here)and I want to buy your whatever=delete.

Eventually you'll get a real buyer.

That reminds me, I have to repost my table.
Hopefully a nice local buyer will contact me with cash and a smile.

We did our apartment search there and found the coolest apartment in history, so no. Not everything. But like in everywhere else in life, caveat shopper.
