Are you giving up anything for Lent?
I realize there are a lot of non-religious people here. I am not trying to start a flamewar. Just interested in knowing if other people are giving things up.

I am giving up soda.

4. Giving up an hour of sleep to get my butt out of bed & go exercise
I got the getting out of bed early down pat...so I'm using Lent as the motivator to actually get dressed & out the door instead of sneaking off to the computer....

6. I'm giving up Catholicism. This year I think I can really do it.
When does/did it start? And when does it end?

On an unrelated note, when is Easter this year?

9. Right wing talk radio.
Like a freaking moth to a flame, I will occassionally turn on Oxycotin Rush or that smarmy little shit Hannity just for the "tomato throwing" effect, i.e., the whole amazement of "How do actual people listen to this shit and think they are informed by repeating whatever these clowns tell them to repeat?"

Like smoking, it's bad for my health but its disturbingly addictive to be shocked and horrified as for what passes for information for some people. Fortunately, I make it a point NOT to patronize their sponsors, but still, I shouldn't be wasting my time like that.

Well that's gone for Lent, and who knows, maybe it will break the spell for good.

17. I'll give up something for Lent when my prayer gets answered
with something besides, "No!" for a change. Until then, I'm keeping all my vices and adding new ones as the opportunity arrives.

25. I tend to take something on rather than giving something up.
I.e., I'll usually plan to pray for a specific person. One year it was Newt Gingrich...

But generally I do not reveal what I am doing until after Lent is over.

And I refuse to give up chocolate, wine, or TV.

27. This is my method
I like acquiring a new habit or skill during this time. Or just learning something.

There is a new lit mag opening up here, so I want to create something for it. That's my Lent thing.
