Tomato aspic. Pev? Or just gross?

One of our daughter's favorite dishes is tomato aspic.
Several of her high school friends came to dinner years back.
Miz t. served tomato aspic.
Jim asked "What's this?"
"Tomato aspic."
He looked perplexed for a moment.
"Tomato ASS PICK? How did it get that name?"

1. Isn't that basically a beef broth and tomato jello?

I've seen pictures on old 70's recipe cards, but I am not nearly brave enough to try it.

2. Just think of it as "Tu-mater Jello."

I'm sure it isn't anywhere near as nasty as I envision it to be. I remember working for a caterer for a private party once where they had tomato aspic on the menu. It got gobbled up quickly and I had a terrible time un-molding it.

Anyhow, hick that I am, I was sorely tempted to call it "Tu-mater Jello."
