Daylight Savings VS Standard Time

Anyone have a preference? For me, I prefer standard time. I like the extra sunlight of daylight savings, but my body seems to be in a natural standard time rhythm. Does anyone else have a preference?

1. No real preference.

During the summer, I would hate the sun rising at 3:30-4:00am, but the inverse would happen in the winter with DST.

3. Arizona didn't have DST

and that was really annoying when the sun would come pouring into my window before 4am in the summer.

and forget long summer evenings, it was dark by 7:30pm.

The same reason they didn't have any freeways (except the 3 big interstates crossing the state) until the late 1970's.

it's also possible that daylight in the morning when in Phoenix it finally dips below 90,at 4am, is much more useful than the extra hour of daylight at 8:30pm when it's still above 100. yes, Arizonans are often up at 4am doing this and that outside because it's tolerable, while they are home inside at 8:30 because it's still blazing hot.

further, daylight savings time probably wouldn't save any energy in Arizona during the summer because that extra hour of sunlight would increase the need for cooling at the peak energy usage from other household appliances occurs (in early evening).

so there you go.

so it plays havoc with our cable schedules, which are based on Pacific time -- standard or daylight.

The Fall back messes with my mind worse than Spring Forward. So, I guess I prefer Standard.

I think the signfying of oncoming winter depresses me, too. It takes my sleep pattern a couple weeks to adjust. Weird, huh.

9. Daylight savings time is idiotic

The only people that want it are retailers, because people tend to go out later and buy shit if it's lighter out. I've yet to see any hard data that shows we "save energy" by turning our clocks back.

20. Well on cable we get channels from across North America-Newfoundland to Spokane.

So,say Conan O'Brien starts at 11:30pm now,after the shift to DST,it will shift to 10:30pm.

23. we noticed that too, in AZ, Monday Night Football goes from 6pm to 5pm

and since nobody is telling you to turn your clocks back, you might not realize it's happened everywhere else.

18. I used to think "weekend savings time"

would be a better idea. Make every weekend an hour longer, and take the hour out of Monday, preferable during the work day, so people who worked days would only work seven hours.

But I'm retired now, so it doesn't matter. However, the older I get, the more problems I have adjusting to the changeover.

Noon should be noon, i.e. when the sun is at its highest. Mean Solar Time and the existence of Time Zones force some difference between Local Solar Time and Local Solar Time but to throw it all out of whack by more than an hour is ridiculous.
