Vitamins for young ladies.
What's the best over the counter option for a college aged kid who keeps catching colds?

1. Store brand "one-a-day" clones - WOMENS FORMULA (at least 18mg iron)
I have a wife and three teen daughters and my wife is anemic. Look for "ferrous fumerate" as the iron source. It is the easiest to absorb, but it isn't usually what you'll find. The store brands are almost identical in every way to the advertised name brands except one - cost.

5. Get *good* vitamins. Synthetic vitamins are crap.
Dont buy that one-a-day type junk. They have little to no value. Go for a good, organic, food source vitamin like New Chapter (I take these) or something like that. Theyre a bit more expensive - but synthetic vitamins are a complete waste of money.

6. Hate to say it,

(and not saying this in a condescending tone), but there is no outside advice that is going to be a good substitute for doing the research on your own. Not all vitamins are the same and - just as in any area of life - there are plenty or outfits out there who will gladly take your money and give you an inferior product. If you let them.

So in addition to getting recommendations from friends (which is a good start), my suggestion is to read up on vitamin quality and quality control standards, check out consumer reports investigations/ratings kind of stuff, talk to the people in the health food store, research various products via the company website... all of that. Then you can make an informed decision about the best product for your needs, and the best value for your money.

Good luck!

8. Believe it or not, this is probably your best defense

wash your hands frequently, and keep them away from your face.
